COMPETITION RULES
Entries: Carvers may enter any carving that has been finished since September, 2019. Carvers are free to enter these pieces again in the 2021 NB Competition as well as our On-line Competition. The same habitat rules apply for these competitions as for our regular annual Competition.
Carvers are to submit up to three high quality photos to carvingcompetition@gmail.com by the closing date of each competition, indicating the Competition Level that they wish to enter. If less than three carving are submitted in any level, they will be consolidated with a higher or lower level.
Judging
Judging will be by Carvers Choice. That is, all carvers on our contact list are eligible and strongly encouraged to vote for their favorite carving in each Level. You can do that by emailing your choice of 1st, 2nd and 3rd placement in each level to carvingcompetition@gmail.com by the judging cut-off date. The results of each competition will be posted on this site within 2 weeks after the judging has ceased. As well, winners will be announced in our Association newsletter.
When judging, carvers are asked to consider the five key criteria of judging: Technique/craftsmanship, Accuracy, Essence of the species (in the case of birds), Artistry and overall presentation. For more help in this area you can consult: https://www.wardmuseum.org/app/uploads/2019/10/Ward-Guide-2020-sm-rules.pdf
